The diagnosis of cancer can be difficult for both patients and their families. The caring SJH Cancer Services staff provides comprehensive cancer services to help you live a healthier life. Our fully accredited cancer center offers state-of-the-art treatment options and cancer research.
Quality Cancer Care
SJH’s team approach to cancer treatment has provided patients with quality, comprehensive care for more than 25 years. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of theAmerican Collegeof Surgeons (ACoS) recently granted three year approval with commendation to the SJH cancer program. SJH received the Outstanding Achievement Award for cancer services, the highest designation awarded to community hospitals. SJH also has the only Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program in Cumberland, Salem, or Gloucester counties, as designated by the CoC of the ACoS.
Our multidisciplinary cancer care team includes board-certified medical oncologists, palliative care specialists, radiation oncologists and national and advanced oncology certified nurses. Experienced radiation therapists and certified radiation oncology nurses provide personalized care in the Frank and Edith Scarpa Regional Cancer Pavilion, where an on-site medical physicist supervises treatment safety and accuracy through continuous quality assurance and daily equipment tests. SJH staff medical oncologists also participate in quality reviews by Fox Chase physicians and staff.
Convenience and Comfort
The SJH Cancer Program offers patients the latest technologies and treatments found in big city cancer centers, here in our region. Our friendly staff provides quality care that’s close to your home, your family and your place of business, with ample free parking and no traffic hassles. Registration and dressing areas are private and comfortable and ancillary services, such as laboratory and radiology, are available on site. Inpatient services are provided in large, private rooms with accommodations for family and friends.
Comprehensive Cancer Program
Cumberland County Cancer Coalition
The Cumberland County Cancer Coalition (SJH is the lead agency for this grant-funded program) conducted two very successful programs: a colon cancer awareness community education program in March and a state-wide cancer survivorship conference in November. SJH also hosted a barbershop outreach initiative for prostate cancer awareness. Outreach was also conducted at the new NJ Motorsports Park in Millville. An African American breast cancer support group was formed and members participated in the statewide breast cancer coalition as well as outreach activities in Bridgeton.
For men, SJH offers a men's cancer "navigator" to help men understand and to adjust to a cancer diagnosis.
