Medicare/Medicaid
SJH HospiceCare is both Medicare and Medicaid certified and accepts their reimbursement as 100% coverage for hospice services. For care unrelated to your primary diagnosis, Medicare and Medicaid will continue to provide their routine benefits.
Private Insurance
Each insurance carrier provides SJH HospiceCare with information about your individual coverage and the amount of reimbursement that is available. For specific information about your carrier's hospice benefit, please contact our SJH HospiceCare office or your insurance company. Patients are responsible for co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance at 100% reimbursement to SJH HospiceCare.
No Hospice Insurance
SJH HospiceCare is a not-for-profit, community based organization. Donations, memorial gifts and bequests are gratefully accepted to support hospice services. Patients without hospice insurance will receive services and be billed based on a sliding fee scale. No patient will be denied care due to an inability to pay or source of payment.
Hospitalization
Respite and acute care hospital admissions are available to patients as indicated in the hospice Plan of Care. SJH HospiceCare contracts with specific hospitals for these services. If a patient or family member thinks that hospitalization is necessary, they must call the hospice nurse first. If you go to the hospital without notifying hospice, or the hospital visit is not included in the hospice plan of care, you may be responsible for the bill.
Physician Services
Physicians bill insurances separately for services provided under the hospice plan of care. Patients may be responsible for a small co-payment.
