Community Education

Many have heard the term hospice, but may want or need to learn how Hospice can help the ones they love.  One of the ways that you can help educate your group or organization is to call on our group of professionals and volunteers who can tell the story of Hospice from their own experiences

SJH HospiceCare Speakers Bureau team members are available to speak with members of clubs, organizations, churches, synagogues and other community groups.  Presentations can be formal or informal, and can be scheduled at any time. SJH HospiceCare also provides in-service education programs for health care professionals.
Our team can touch on many subjects, which can include:
  • What is hospice?
  • How to discuss the choice for hospice
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Effective pain management
  • Guidelines on When To Refer to Hospice
  • Advance Directives “Living Wills”
  • Coping with grief and loss
  • Loss of a Spouse
  • Loss of a Child
    • Loss of a Parent
    • How children grieve
    • Helpful hints for coping with loss during the holidays
    • Community Resources for the Elderly
    • Cultural Diversity and the Dying Process
    • Challenges of Care giving
    • Ethics in End of Life Care

To arrange for an in-service or presentation for your group or for more information about any of these topics please call (856) 794-1515.
